Bassist Nicholas Krolak is a young veteran of the Philadelphia jazz scene. He has spent the last decade working as a side-man, experiencing new styles, and studying with the masters. Now, he has taken all he has learned and is applying it to his own group. Tracing the lineage of bebop into the contemporary, his compositions celebrate the city and honor nature. He is also the host of the Voice = Power Podcast in which he interviews visionaries of the Jazz world, pursuing the question: How does an artist find their voice?
World Cafe Live’s long-running Jazz Jam is for musicians and listeners alike. Our house band will start the evening with a few tunes before they invite a rotating lineup of players to the stage. Instrumentals and vocalists are welcome to sign up and sit in throughout the evening. The Phantasma Trio will be filling in as house band for the July 14th Jazz Jam.
Phantasma Trio features the lush, glimmering compositions of bassist and leader Chris Coyle, the layered drums and electronics of Doug Hirlinger, and brilliantly mysterious piano work from Ron Stabinsky.
