Motown Gospel (a division of Capitol CMG/Capitol and Universal Music Group) has announced the signing of four-time GRAMMY® nominated duo The Baylor Project.
They have been signed to an exclusive distribution agreement, in partnership with their artist-owned label, Be A Light.
The Baylor Project features vocalist Jean Baylor and drummer Marcus Baylor, married musical partners.
Before forming The Baylor Project in 2013, Jean Baylor was a Vocal Performance Major at Temple University and was part of the groundbreaking R&B duo Zhané. Marcus Baylor first rose to prominence as the drummer for the GRAMMY®-Award-winning fusion group Yellowjackets.
Their debut CD The Journey, released on their own label, Be A Light, garnered 2 GRAMMY® Nominations for Best Jazz Vocal Album and Best Traditional R&B Performance. In 2020, the Baylors released their single, “Sit On Down,” which earned a 3rd GRAMMY® Nomination for Best Traditional R&B Performance. Their second album, Generations was released during Black Music Month and on the eve of Juneteenth, June 18. It was most recently nominated for the Best Jazz Vocal Album as part of the 2022 GRAMMY® Awards.
