Arts Funding Opportunities Round-up: August 2022

For College Students: The NAMM President’s Innovation Award honors college students who demonstrate excellence in the field of music. Winners have proven dedication to pursuing a career in music including the areas of music performance, music education, media, sound engineering/audio, event technology, production, administration, management and/or marketing along with product creation and innovation. Award Details: Supports individuals enrolled in college and university music or music business programs and are preparing for a career in the music industry. Cash Award of $750 given one time to selected junior, Senior undergraduate and graduate students to support travel needs and expenses. Recipients participate in professional development opportunities at The NAMM Show and have access to music products, pro audio, and live event technology exhibits in addition to concerts, special events and networking sessions. Application Closes: December 1

Ending this month: PECO’s new Powering the Arts Grant application is now open and “offers one-year or two-year grants of up to $10,000 per year for a maximum of $20,000 over two years to support new or ongoing efforts to attract diverse audiences and rebuild arts communities across the region.” The deadline to apply is Wednesday, August 31st, 2022.

Last Week to Apply for This Round: The Ben & Jerry’s National Grassroots Organizing Program offers one-year general operating support grants of up to $30,000 to “small, non-profit grassroots organizations throughout the United States.” The grant prioritizes “organizations that are led by and center the leadership and agency of Black communities, Indigenous communities, and communities of color that approach their work using anti-oppression values” with annual budgets under $350,000. Second Deadline: Monday, August 15th, both at 4pm EST.  

The Parkway Council Foundation, the organization managing arts and cultural programming on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, is seeking to “activate the Parkway with small to midsize cultural events” beyond its traditional large summer festivals.  They are offering to help groups identify suitable spaces, shepherd permitting or other permissions, assist with marketing, and possibly provide funding to small organizations.  For more information, you can check out their Parkway Presents FAQs and Parkway Resource Guide documents, and email them directly at info@parkwaycouncil.org. 

The Philadelphia Office of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy’s (OACCE)’s applications are now open for its 2022 Neighborhood Arts Program grants. Individual artists, cultural organizations, and civic leaders can request up to $2,500 to hold a free public arts activity or event in Philadelphia County between May 16th and December 31st, 2022. Application deadlines are rolling, but applications must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the proposed event is to take place. The application closes on December 23rd, 2022.

$500,000 Creative Capital x Skoll Foundation Fund: Kickstarter, Creative Capital, and Skoll Foundation launched a $500,000 Creative Capital x Skoll Foundation Fund to support projects by Asian, Black, Indigenous, and Latinx creators. Awards are given out on an ongoing basis to creators in categories like Arts, Comics & Illustration, Design & Tech, Film, Food & Craft, Games, Music, and Publishing. Deadline: rolling basis

The Russell J. Efros Foundation’s Sprout Fund has opened “to support artists across the nation with direct funds in order to provide financial means to projects that will be completed within the next 12 months. Artists are also encouraged to apply for funds for projects that involve their communities such as art classes, therapy, outreach, and non-traditional projects.”  Funding is provided on an ongoing, rolling basis.

The Awesome Foundation’s Philadelphia chapter provides $1,000 micro-grants each month to “achievable projects that serve their community.  Funding is provided on an ongoing, rolling basis. 

Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant: Do you have an unanticipated opportunity to present your work? Did you incur an unexpected expense that you didn’t budget for? The Foundation for Contemporary Arts offers Emergency Grants between $200 and $3,000 for visual and performing artists. They review applications once a month, so you can quickly take advantage of momentum or solve any budget errors. Deadline: rolling basis
