VJAM Philly

VJAM Philly is a way for us to come together as a community to show our strength, celebrate our talent, and give jazz lovers what they need right now: music.

The hospitality and entertainment sector has been hard hit by the Coronavirus shutdown, and all live events that were coordinated by the community and via Philadelphia’s Office of Arts Culture and Creative Community for their annual Philly Loves Jazz events and award program have been canceled or postponed to protect public safety. Many lives have been put on hold, and we know that we can’t be together at this time as we would have liked to do in April 2020.

But as Lovett Hines from the Clef Club of Jazz & Performing Arts said, “The music can’t stop.”

What Jazz Philadelphia is Doing to Celebrate:

Celebrating Philadelphia Artists

Amplifying the Work of
Local Leaders

Hometown Heroes:

Each week of April 2020, we released mini-profiles from a wide range of artists. We are continuing to do this even after VJAM ended. Visit our Hometown Heroes page to submit your suggestions! Artists also have their music featured on WRTI!

Convening Collaborators:

We were thrilled to have so many VJAM Philly Session Leaders who do amazing work throughout our community and made this VJAM celebration happen!

Join us as a V-JAM Philly Session Player:

Whatever you’re doing to celebrate music, be it a live-stream concert, posting archival footage of concerts, offering podcasts, blog posts, a photo series, raising money for musicians or others impacted by this crisis, you’re already participating. Tell us so we can tell the rest of the community!

Community Events and Initiatives Calendar: Let us know what you’re organizing that will happen on a particular day and we’ll share it on our community calendar.
